Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is a very ancient and powerful herb dating back to 6000 B.C. that has many healing properties and assists those suffering with depression, anxiety, fatigue, chronic stress and concentration difficulties. Other healing effects of this wonderful herb include improving learning, memory and reaction time, lowering cholesterol, stabilizing blood sugar, providing anti-inflammatory benefits, enhancing sexual potency especially male libido, boosting athletic performance and producing thyroid hormones in the body.

Interestingly, Ashwagandha in Sanskrit translates to "smell of a horse" meaning that the herb gives valor and strength of a stallion--the herb does not literally smell like a horse! Also while it's actually part of the nightshade family, Ashwagandha is referred to as "Indian Ginseng" because of its rejuvenating properties.

Ashwagandha has traditionally been taken in powder form, but also used in tinctures. You will find ashwagandha in our Zen Blend Tincture as well as several of the Solay Super Food products we carry in house. Use in smoothies or take the tincture as a daily supplement!
